Volunteer Opportunities

Fernbank Science Center is always in need of additional volunteers. Anyone interested in working in any of these areas should contact Mary Larsen at 678-874-7116 or by email Mary_Larsen@fc.dekalb.k12.ga.us

NOTE:
Some of these positions involve specialized training and some are reserved for volunteers aged 15 and older.


Fernbank Forest

Help with the removal of exotic, invasive plant species (English Ivy, etc.) and other labor. DeKalb students will receive community service hours required for graduation! Last Saturday of every month. Everyone is welcome! Compost Demonstration Site and the associated mini-gardens

Involves both outdoor work and contact with the public. On-the-job training is provided.

Rose Garden

Involves specialized work with the national rose test beds and assisting members of the public.

Observatory

Assist the visiting public on open house nights (Thursday and Friday) and special events
